I feel overwhelmed by the clutter in my home. Where do I start?
Call for a FREE 45-min consultation in your home. We will discuss possibilities and the best avenue for you. The immediate goal is to help you feel better and that will happen in the first session. I will guide you in taking the first step and then the next. Before you know it, you will be basking in the excitement of positive change.
My life feels out of control and I have resigned that things will never change. Can you help?
Resignation can be a sign that you are feeling stuck or can't see an alternative way of dealing with the issues in your life. Many times a simple shift in perspective will give you renewed hope and clarity. Everything in life is transitory and open to change, even though it may not feel like it when you are struggling with a particular challenge. Contact me today if you are ready to explore a new perspective.
I am embarrassed about my clutter. Will anyone else know about it?
It is very common to feel embarrassment about your clutter. I have no judgment about the condition of your home. I come to be of service to you and help you feel better about yourself and your home space. I will provide you with the helping hand you need, teach you how to manage what you own and create a more peaceful environment.
Sessions are strictly confidential. I consider it a privilege to assist you in the intimacy of your home and always treat our time together as sacred space.
Do I need to clean some of it up before you come?
No, you do not need to clean it up before I visit with you. I actually prefer that you leave it as it is so I can have a sense of where you experience the most challenges. It helps me see how and where I can be of the most help to you.
What does a typical declutter session look like?
Sessions are three hours long. It's best to start a session well rested and well nourished. Both the body and the emotions feel better and you will have more fun.
In most cases, the declutter process includes moving everything from the space we have decided to declutter in a particular session to a neutral location. By moving items to a neutral location, you will gain a different perspective from the way you are accustomed to seeing things and the decision-making process will be easier for you. As we go through your possessions we will sort them into areas of keep/trash/donate.
Once that is complete we will reorganize the items you have chosen to keep and make the area beautiful and functional in ways that work best for you. We will allow time at the end of each session to remove trash and donate items, along with putting all the items you choose to keep in their appropriate locations.
What if I'm not ready to let go of certain items?
Some things may feel too emotional or sentimental to part with, or you may not have enough clarity to let go of something on a particular day. My role is to help you become conscious of your choices, so I will ask you questions to assist you in having the clarity you desire. I have no judgment about how much you keep or release, as I am there to totally support you in your process of feeling more comfortable in your home.
How long will it take?
There is no specific formula for how long it takes to declutter your space as decluttering is a very individualized process. The time factor is partly dependent upon the quantity and type of clutter. For instance, paper clutter is more time consuming than other items. The other factor is your state of readiness to let go of things that are no longer important or no longer support you in your present day life.
If you desire openness and change in your home space, the decluttering process will flow more smoothly and quickly. It is more important to focus on the fact that in each session you are moving towards your goal of less clutter than to put time constraints on yourself as to how you think it should look.
My friend in Denver referred me to you, but I live in another state. Can you help me, too?
Yes, I can help you wherever you happen to live. I am available for coaching by phone. If you prefer more 1-on-1 support, we can schedule an in-home intensive at your home, where I will work hand-in-hand with you to create the change you desire.
Can I learn to declutter on my own?
Absolutely. I will teach you how to declutter and to maintain your new space. As you start to experiment on your own, you will learn how to build on your successes.
